Memory Care, Music, and Senior Wellness

MIM’s life-enrichment programs tap into the powerful effects of the healing power of music for people experiencing age-related memory loss. The creative aging series reduces stress and stimulates memories and emotions. These unique programs feature guided gallery tours and music-making workshops at MIM.

Upcoming Sessions

AARP Memory Care and Music Series

This program is designed for people with cognitive impairment, including memory loss and dementia. Each session includes a 45-minute gallery tour led by a MIM museum guide and a 45-minute music-making session facilitated by a music therapist. In each session, participants explore a variety of cultures through instruments and music, interacting, sharing stories, and having a multisensory musical experience. Care partners are invited and encouraged to attend with participants.

AARP Music Enrichment Series

This program is designed for active seniors and taps into the powerful effects music has promoting social and physical well-being. Sessions engage participants through exploration of music, instruments, and global cultures. Each session features an engaging 45-minute gallery tour followed by a participatory music-making workshop. Guests can trace cultural roots and traditions and independently explore MIM’s galleries following the program.
