SENIOR PROGRAMS

Memory Care and Music

MIM’s life enrichment programs tap into the powerful effects of music for people with dementia, such as stress reduction and stimulation of memories and emotions. These programs feature guided gallery tours and music-making workshops for individuals with different stages of dementia and their caregivers.

MIM’s program is designed for a diverse audience of individuals with different stages of memory loss living in retirement communities, residential and memory care facilities, senior centers, and other sites with groups of 10 or more participants. Each session includes a 45-minute gallery tour led by a MIM museum guide and a 45-minute music-making workshop facilitated by a board-certified music therapist. Throughout each session, participants interact, share stories, and have a multisensory musical experience.
