MIM’s life-enrichment programs tap into the powerful effects of the healing power of music for people experiencing age-related memory loss. The creative aging series reduces stress and stimulates memories and emotions. These unique programs feature guided gallery tours and music-making workshops at MIM.

Memory Care and Music
Journey Through a World of Music

MIM’s Memory Care and Music life-enrichment series is designed for people with memory loss to enhance their memory skills in the company of friends and family. The series harnesses the powerful benefits of music making to promote emotional and physical wellness. Join us to explore the world through music while socializing and engaging with others.

Each session includes a 45-minute gallery tour led by a MIM museum guide followed by a 45-minute music-making workshop facilitated by a board-certified music therapist. Throughout each session, participants will interact and have a fun-filled musical experience.

AARP Memory Care and Music Series

This program is designed for people with cognitive impairment, including memory loss and dementia. Each session includes a 45-minute gallery tour led by a MIM museum guide and a 45-minute music-making session facilitated by a certified music therapist. In each session, participants explore a variety of cultures through instruments and music, interacting, sharing stories, and having a multisensory musical experience. Care partners are invited and encouraged to attend with participants.

AARP Music and Wellness Series

This life-enrichment program is designed for active seniors and taps into the music’s powerful effects promoting social and physical well-being and stress reduction. Sessions engage participants by stimulating memories and emotions through exploration of music, instruments, and global cultures. Each session features an engaging 45-minute gallery tour followed by a participatory music-making workshop. Guests can trace cultural roots and traditions and independently explore MIM’s galleries following the program.
