PHOENIX (March 28, 2019) – The MIM Music Theater proudly announces its Summer 2019 Concert Series, with tickets on sale to the public starting on April 4 at 10:00 a.m. The new series, running from May through September, includes more than thirty-five concerts spanning multiple genres across the globe.

Highlights this season include folk-pop singer-songwriter Brett Dennen, who is known for his feel-good lyrics and melodies. Grammy Award–winning Americana and folk singer-songwriter Patty Griffin will deliver a powerful performance that explores the universal emotions that bind people together. Sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar, daughter of the late Ravi Shankar, will fuse together Indian classical techniques with popular sensibilities. Vocal quartet New York Voices will share their inspired jazz-fusion arrangements and unparalleled vocal blend.

The Summer 2019 Concert Series welcomes some artists who will be performing at the MIM Music Theater for the first time. New artists include country singer-songwriter Terry McBride; powerhouse bluegrass band Blue Highway; Orquesta Akokán, a Cuban band reminiscent of the great orchestras of Tito Puente and Machito; New Orleans brass band Cha Wa, which blends funk-laced beats with Mardi Gras traditions; and Sweet Honey in the Rock, a female a cappella ensemble rooted in African American history and culture.

Guests can also look forward to the return of several favorites to the MIM Music Theater, including blues pianist and singer-songwriter Marcia Ball, jazz singer and pianist Patricia Barber, Southern California country-rock singer-songwriter JD Souther, and deaf American singer-songwriter and America’s Got Talent contestant Mandy Harvey.

The MIM Music Theater presents over 290 concerts per year and has had over 150 Grammy-winning artists perform on its stage. Within the span of only eight years, the theater has been recognized as one of the top music venues of its size, anywhere in the world. Audiences and musicians have praised its unparalleled intimate atmosphere and acoustically superb sound quality.

“We have been invited to some of the world’s greatest venues like the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, and also the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. But I tell you one thing, this theater and this museum are second to none,” says Allen Bailey, founder of Harlem Gospel Choir.

Tickets went on sale to members who give $250+ annually on Wednesday, March 27. Circle of Friends members starting at $250 enjoy exclusive member benefits, including advance purchase opportunities for concerts and invitations to Concert Series Previews with MIM’s artistic director. Members who give $500+ annually also receive 10 percent off concert tickets. Additional artists will be added to the lineup throughout the season.
