Rolland’s haunting, ethereal voice sweeps over imposing landscapes, rising and falling as if in conjunction with the land’s contours.
—Phoenix New Times
From time to time, people come into your life that just shine. Sometimes you even expect it because of their talent and ability to create beautiful art, but when their star shines about as bright as any can, it’s still overwhelming. . . . Singer and multi-instrumentalist Grace Rolland is one such person.
Grace Rolland is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Mesa, Arizona. Her ear for sound and poeticism brings rich texture to her songwriting. In 2010, Rolland joined the traditional folk-Americana band Run Boy Run as cellist and vocalist. The band won the coveted Telluride Bluegrass Band contest (2011), appeared on A Prairie Home Companion twice (2011, 2012), released four studio records, and toured across the United States in the short span of five years. During that time, Rolland began the project Rising Sun Daughter, releasing her debut EP I See Jane in 2019.
