Carl Broemel and Tyler Ramsey have been friends and occasional touring partners for well more than a decade, and when they first met, Broemel marveled at Ramsey’s technique and the sound, chord voicings, and deep feelings he would pull out of his guitar. Ramsey and Broemel encapsulate their singular camaraderie on Celestun, as Broemel’s classically trained virtuosity aligns with Ramsey’s nimble fingerstyle picking to create a predominantly instrumental song cycle recorded almost entirely on acoustic guitars.

Carl Broemel is best known as a guitarist in Louisville, Kentucky’s My Morning Jacket. He has released a series of solo records over the past two decades as well as collaborative efforts such as . . . Thanks Y’all, a 2023 live album recorded over five shows with Athens, Georgia’s Futurebirds. Asheville, North Carolina-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Tyler Ramsey has earned praise in his former role as songwriter and lead guitarist in Band of Horses as well as for an evolving solo body of work that includes 2024’s acclaimed New Lost Ages.
