Featuring button accordion, guitar and fiddle, the band’s sound is defined by the hurdy-gurdy, which adds an earthy, rough-hewn flavor to even the most buoyant dance tunes.

Le Vent du Nord leads the way for Quebec’s progressive francophone folk movement. The award-winning band draws from traditional sources to augment its original compositions, enhancing its highly rhythmic, soulful music—rooted in the Celtic diaspora—with a broad range of global influences.
Since its inception in 2002, Le Vent du Nord has performed well over 2,000 concerts on four continents and racked up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Juno Awards, a Félix Award from ADISQ, a Canadian Folk Music Award, and an Artist of the Year award from Folk Alliance International.
Not content with standard approaches to tradition, Le Vent du Nord has created a symphonic concert that modernizes the sounds of tradition, bringing forth a music of the here and now.
