In the world of music photography, Henry Diltz occupies the upper strata of legendary photographers. He was the official photographer at Woodstock, and he has photographed over 200 album covers. His images of popular musicians of the ’60s and ’70s defined the musical landscape of that time, when a photographer could create lasting friendships and document each artist’s beginning through their assent to greatness.

Behind the Lens is a visual and narrative journey into some of the most era-defining musical artists and album covers ever photographed.
