Concert Details
Grammy-winning bassist, singer, and bandleader esperanza spalding is an eaabibacliitoti* artist trained and initiated in the North American jazz lineage and tradition. Her work interweaves various combinations of instrumental music, improvisation, singing, composition, poetry, dance, therapeutic research, storytelling, teaching, restorative urban land and artist-sanctuary custodianship, and growing in love as a daughter, sister, cousin, niece, auntie, great-auntie, and friend.
She founded and serves as co-director of Prismid Sanctuary, a nonprofit that creates and stewards restorative artist residency and workshop space in Portland, Oregon.
With her dance project Off Brand gOdds and the Songwrights Apothecary Lab, spalding leads multiweek performance, workshop, teaching, and therapeutic-arts research residencies. She received a Doris Duke Foundation Artist Award in 2024 and was a Ford Foundation Art of Change Fellow in 2016.

Enhance your concertgoing experience with a special package offering an exclusive meet and greet session with esperanza spalding. This is an intimate experience designed to connect VIPs with spalding and her work beyond the music—specifically her leadership in building Prismid Sanctuary, an artist-led eco-cultural campus in Portland, Oregon, rooted in land, creativity, and community.
The VIP experience upgrade package includes:
- A small group meet and greet with esperanza spalding
- A brief private presentation about Prismid Sanctuary
- Time for questions and conversation with esperanza spalding
- A photo opportunity with esperanza spalding
- An intimate performance of two to three songs by esperanza spalding
VIP experience upgrade tickets are limited to ensure a unique and hands-on experience. The upgrade is only available to people who have purchased a ticket to one of esperanza spalding’s concerts at the MIM Music Theater. All proceeds directly support Prismid Sanctuary.
Expected start time is 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20. Start time is subject to change; VIP experience package buyers will be contacted via email at least two days before the show if there are any changes.
