After 26 years together, the Bad Plus—known for its fiercely original, genre-defying approach and democratic spirit—has announced that 2026 will be its final year. The decision comes after deep reflection and with great pride in a body of work that reshaped expectations of what a modern jazz group could be.

For the past two decades, the Bad Plus has played with spirit and adventure, made its own rules, and done so with a bold sense of creativity and intent. Avoiding easy categorization, the group—founded by bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King and currently featuring guitarist Ben Moder and tenor saxophonist Chris Speed—has won critical acclaim and a legion of fans worldwide with its unique sound and live flair.
