Pop-Up Demonstration: Robjohn Pipe Organ 1:00–1:15 p.m. Orientation Gallery Enjoy a short demonstration of MIM’s new 14-foot-tall pipe organ, made in 1859, the only surviving instrument of New York City builder Thomas Robjohn.
Congo Masks and Music Mini Gallery Talk 1:30–1:45 p.m. Target Gallery Included with special exhibition admission only. Explore the music and art of the Congo with Manuel Jordán, PhD, MIM’s deputy director and chief curator, or Katie Palmer, DMA, curator of education, in this brief insider’s look at the curation of the exhibition’s rare and special collection of masks and musical instruments.
Bomba Drumming Workshop: Grupo BombAZo 2:15–2:45 p.m. Founders Room Get ready to make some music in a workshop featuring the Afro–Puerto Rican style of bomba led by Joe Goglia and Grupo BombAZo. Each session will last 30 minutes, and drums will be sanitized before and after use.
Hip-Hop Dance Performance: The Jukebox Dance Studio 3:30–4:00 p.m. Main Courtyard Members of the Jukebox Dance Studio bust a move in this engaging dance performance showcasing the bounce and rock grooves of hip hop.
