Concert Details

Celebrated contemporary blues guitarist Mike Zito has built a career defined by authenticity, honesty, and perseverance. His career highlights include his Blues Music Award-winning song “Pearl River,” his role in the supergroup Royal Southern Brotherhood, and acclaimed albums such as Make Blues Not War and Resurrection. Zito has produced blues records, cofounded the label Gulf Coast Records, and collaborated with notable artists. His recent projects, such as a Chuck Berry tribute and the Blues for the Southside live album, underscore his enduring passion for the blues.

Blues saxophonist Jimmy Carpenter won a Grammy for the song he contributed to the New Orleans Nightcrawlers’ Grammy-winning album Atmosphere. He also won the 2021 and 2022 Blues Music Awards for Best Instrumentalist-Horns. Carpenter has toured internationally with Tinsley Ellis, Jimmy Thackery, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and Eric Lindell. Soul Doctor, his first album on Gulf Coast Records, was well-received worldwide, and in 2022 he released his fifth solo album, The Louisiana Record, a collection of his favorite New Orleans songs, also on Gulf Coast.

Mike Zito:

“Mike Zito unleashes his vocals and guitar with incendiary power. The blues is far from dead when people like this are still plying the trade.”

American Highways

Jimmy Carpenter:
