Simon Phillips is one of the world’s most renowned and respected drummers. His style reflects not only his technical gift but also his distinct musical sensibility. Whether he is playing rock, fusion, or jazz, Phillips applies the same precision and intensity to his drumming, which is never lacking in emotion and feel.

Throughout the 1970s and ’80s, Phillips worked with rock bands and artists including Jeff Beck, Judas Priest, and the Who. Following Jeff Porcaro’s death in 1992, he joined Toto. After leaving the group in 2014, Phillips ventured into fusion and progressive rock as a drummer and producer. His long-running fusion project Protocol releases Protocol 6 in June. The group currently features keyboardist Otmaro Ruiz, guitarist Alexander Sill, saxophonist Phillip Whack, and bassist Ernest Tibbs.
