Longtime friends Paul Livingstone, a renowned American sitārist, and Partho Sarothy, one of India’s leading sarod players, have been performing together for more than 15 years across India, the United States, and Mexico. Both students of the legendary sitārist and composer Pandit Ravi Shankar, they offer an extension of the tradition of dynamic interactive improvisation exemplified by their guru and his groundbreaking work with the virtuosic sarod player Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Livingstone and Sarothy have a new record of pure alap and jor duet in Raga Jogeshwari, a raga creation of their illustrious guru.

On this tour of the Americas, Livingstone and Sarothy are joined by Abhijit Banerjee, one of the most sought-after tablā players from India. Banerjee was trained by acclaimed tablā players Tushar Kanti Bose and Pandit Manik Paul, and he has performed with Pandit Ravi Shankar. Together, the trio brings a cohesive and 21st-century approach to the Maihar Gharana legacy of ensemble playing known as jugalbandi.
