Cuban musician and bandleader Juan de Marcos González first gained notice in the United States for his work with the Grammy-winning Buena Vista Social Club, an unexpected commercial and critical smash that traversed Cuba’s musical history. The music he makes with the Afro-Cuban All Stars combines myriad styles, including classic son montuno, contemporary timba, swinging big-band guajira, jazzy Afro-Cuban danzón, and the tribal rhythms of abakuá bolero.
