Widely recognized as one of the most exciting young bands in acoustic music, Crying Uncle plays a unique mix of bluegrass, David Grisman’s “dawg music,” jazz, and modern originals. Brothers Miles and Teo Quale, respectively a fiddler and a multi-instrumentalist, formed the band in 2017 and are joined by award-winning bassist Andrew Osborn and flatpicking guitar champion Ian Ly—each is an outstanding musician in the vibrant California bluegrass scene.

In 2023, Crying Uncle received the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Band of the Year award and performed during their hero David Grisman’s induction into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. In 2024, the band celebrated their debut at the Grand Ole Opry.

Their most recent album, I Still Remember June, was released in 2025.
