Julian Lage is widely acclaimed as one of the most prodigious jazz guitarists of his generation. He has spent nearly two decades sifting through the myriad strains of American musical history with impeccable technique and a spirit of infinite possibility, garnering seven Grammy nominations for his critically acclaimed work. A renowned improviser, Lage puts his techniques to work every time he takes the stage, his guitar work reflecting his love for blues and early rock in addition to influences from his jazz idols.

Lage’s latest album, Scenes from Above, released by Blue Note Records in 2026, is his first with his remarkable new quartet, which features steadfast bassist Jorge Roeder, dynamic drummer Kenny Wollesen, and vaunted keyboardist John Medeski.
