Darren Challey

Darren Challey joined Remitly in 2024 as chief information security officer. He heads the privacy security and functions for the publicly traded financial technology company, which facilitates cross-border transactions in more than 170 countries.

He was employed by Amazon from 2016 to 2024 in roles focused on cybersecurity and physical security within worldwide operations. Before joining Amazon, Challey was the vice president of enterprise information security at Expedia from 2012 to 2016. He began his career as a field engineer with General Electric, supporting the company’s naval nuclear program. He held a variety of other roles at GE, including application security leader, IT controller, Sarbanes–Oxley leader, and Six Sigma Black Belt.

Challey earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Union College and a master’s degree in computer and systems engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and he maintains the Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Information Systems Auditor certifications. He served on the board of directors for the Seattle-based environmental nonprofit EarthCorps for six years and now supports a Seattle chapter of Tau Beta Pi as a director.
