Concert Details
Since the band’s inception in 1980, the Church has honed and expanded their atmospheric blend of indie rock, post-punk, dreampop, and psychedelic post-rock without retreading creative ground. Experiencing a renaissance of sorts with the 2023 release of its critically acclaimed album The Hypnogogue and its 2024 companion album Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars, the Church has witnessed its enduring impact continue to attract growing audiences and renewed media attention in response to its new albums, world tour, and the 2024 vinyl reissues of its first four albums.
As the band explores new music and celebrates their impressive catalog, it embarks on a tour focused on their singles, playing the songs that launched the Church into mainstream consciousness, including “Under the Milky Way.” The band also has a new album, its 28th, planned for release later this year.
The five-piece lineup is composed of bassist, vocalist, and founder Steve Kilbey, along with long-time collaborator, drummer, and producer Tim Powles (a member since 1994), guitarist Ian Haug, multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Cain, and guitarist Ashley Naylor.
Shimmery alt-pop . . . guitars rip and roar . . . but mostly they jangle and drift through these songs like smoke.
Pitchfork
Perfectly moody and erudite pop songs.
