Nidia Góngora is the most recognized singer in the Colombian Pacific. Throughout her more than 20 years of experience as a composer and performer, Góngora has built bridges between the traditional music of her hometown Timbiquí and other genres from around the world. “Maestra Nidia Góngora,” as she is known, won the 2016 Shock Award for Best Folk Album and was nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.
A passionate performer and researcher, Góngora has collaborated with groups such as Bomba Estéreo, Alé Kumá, Bahía, Herencia de Timbiquí, Dizzy Mandjeku, Ondatrópica, the Bongo Hop, Búho, Montoya, Malecón, Orishas, La Pacifican Power, and the British producer Quantic, with whom she created the most transcendental project in her career.
