Concert Details

Marcus Miller has been dubbed one of the most influential artists of our time—a virtuoso bassist and a genre-defying bandleader whose music has shaped generations. His characteristic bass sound has been featured on more than 500 recordings—including Bill Withers’s hit “Just the Two of Us” and countless more by Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, George Benson and many others—and he has an endless list of film and television credits to his name. He is a two-time Grammy winner (and has been nominated for 14 more) and won the 2013 Edison Award for Lifetime Achievement in Jazz, and in 2013 he was appointed a UNESCO Artist for Peace.

On top of all of this, Miller has been a prolific bandleader in his own right for nearly 40 years, having released more than a dozen albums under his name. Thanks to his distinctive style—a unique combination of funk, groove, and soul, augmented by immense technical skill—Miller is roundly considered one of the most significant bass players in jazz, R&B, fusion, and soul.

“One of the most influential musicians of his generation.”

New York Times

“A master of groove whose elastic bass lines have powered some of the most important music of the past four decades.”

Rolling Stone
