Jazz-blues band Davina and the Vagabonds brings audiences 100 years of American music and original songs that recall the Great American Songbook, offering edgy nostalgia to older generations and fresh new music to younger ears. The rollicking quintet, led by Davina Sowers’s singing and keyboard playing, features acoustic bass, drums, and a spicy trumpet and trombone horn section. The group’s sound is clean and focused, with an emphasis on acoustic instruments, and its shows are filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments, and tender gospel passages.
