Concert Details

Booker T. Jones is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer, and arranger. Best known as the front man of the Memphis soul band Booker T. & the MGs, Jones has worked with countless award-winning artists and won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2007. Along with the band, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.

More than 60 years ago, Booker T. & the MGs transformed an impromptu studio jam into one of the most popular instrumentals ever recorded: “Green Onions.” An instant hit when it came out in the summer of 1962, the single topped the R&B chart. It also became the title track to the band’s debut album, which was the first album released on Stax Records, the legendary Memphis-based record company that shaped the sound of Southern soul in the ’60s.

“Booker T. Jones is one of the legends of soul music.”

New Yorker

“Jones’s name is synonymous with the Hammond B3 organ.”
