A jazz-rock experiment that wowed critics and listeners.
—AllMusic
For a brief moment, Blood, Sweat & Tears were one of the biggest rock bands in America, scoring giant hits like “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” and “Spinning Wheel” and winning a Grammy for Album of the Year. One of the first rock bands to integrate jazz-influenced horns, Blood, Sweat & Tears burst onto the pop playlists with three million-sellers in 1969. That first version of the band played music that roamed freely through realms of jazz, R&B, soul, and psychedelia.
In addition to original music, the group is known for arrangements of popular songs by Laura Nyro, James Taylor, Carole King, the Band, the Rolling Stones, Billie Holiday and many others. Since the early 1970s, Blood, Sweat & Tears has continued to perform with a frequently changing lineup of musicians and varying musical styles.
