Concert Details
Billy F Gibbons, best known as the centerpiece of ZZ Top, is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest guitarists working in the blues-rock idiom. His sound originates from an uncanny knack for squeezing unheard of sounds out of the electric guitar, resonant with blues, pop, R&B, country, gospel, western, hillbilly, and West African influences. As a vocalist, Gibbons has lent his unmistakable growl on such hits as “La Grange,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” and “Cheap Sunglasses.”
Gibbons’s solo album releases—the Afro-Cuban flavored Perfectamundo, the bluesy The Big Bad Blues, and the hard-rocking Hardware—are representative of what Gibbons refers to as the “three T’s”: tone, taste, and tenacity.
Joining Gibbons on stage as supporting group the BFGs are Chris Layton, the drummer for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble along with the Arc Angels band; guitarist Kenny Shepherd; and Mike Flanigin, a master of the Hammond B3 organ.
