DESCRIPTION:In 1988\, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet\, beautiful\, and reflective. The Trinity Session stood out amid the flash and bombast that came to define the late 1980s. The classic album combined folk\, blues\, and rock in a way that had never been heard before\, and it went on to sell more than 1 million copies. \nFormed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar\, Margo Timmins on vocals\, Peter Timmins on drums\, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass\, Cowboy Junkies have sparkled over the course of 29 albums. At this performance\, the band performs a career-spanning show from The Trinity Session to its most recent album\, Such Ferocious Beauty.

DESCRIPTION:For world-renowned guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli\, Tony Bennett was more than an influence. Pizzarelli’s late father\, the revered guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli\, was a frequent sideman for the legendary singer\, and Pizzarelli got his own opportunity to accompany Bennett on a radio broadcast. \nDear Mr. Bennett\, released in March via Green Hill Music\, is on the one hand a loving farewell to a profoundly influential musician. At the same time\, it is a spirited celebration\, arriving just in time for Bennett’s landmark August 3 centennial. A five-song EP will follow on August 7 to coincide with the occasion. Both releases feature songs made famous by Bennett over the course of his remarkable seven-decade career\, rendered with lively warmth\, soulful balladry\, and embracing swing by Pizzarelli and his trio\, which features bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson. \nPizzarelli’s trio has established a brilliant chemistry over the past six years. Dear Mr. Bennett finds them in dazzling form\, equally adept at scintillating jazz\, breathtaking beauty\, and radiant pop.

Accolades from his 60-year career include seven Grammys\, six Latin Grammys\, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He is a member of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame\, and in 2025\, he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts. \nValdés’s Royal Quartet brings together a masterful lineup of Cuban-born instrumentalists\, including bassist José Armando Gola\, who’s known for his lengthy collaboration with Gonzalo Rubalcaba; ambidextrous marvel Horacio “El Negro” Hernández on drums; and percussionist Roberto Jr. Vizcaino\, the son of longtime Valdés associate Roberto Vizcaino. \nThe band’s Grammy-nominated debut\, Cuba and Beyond\, is packed with a collection of the Valdés’s fiery compositions as well as inventive takes on the works of Chick Corea and Pedro Junco.
