SUMMARY:Kirk Whalum
DESCRIPTION:Kirk Whalum picked up the saxophone as a boy in Memphis\, Tennessee\, soaking up the soulful spirituality he found in gospel music. He made his mark in Houston’s thriving nightclub scene in the 1980s\, fusing elements of gospel\, blues\, and jazz to develop his distinctive tenor sound: soul-drenched\, emotional\, and highly melodic. It was also in Houston where he teamed up with jazz keyboardist Bob James\, a collaboration that would lead to five albums\, a number one record\, and his first Grammy nomination. \nWhalum’s solo on Whitney Houston’s megahit “I Will Always Love You” made his sound familiar to millions\, and he has been an in-demand session player for the likes of Barbra Streisand\, Luther Vandross\, and Quincy Jones. As a bandleader and solo artist\, Whalum has released more than 25 records\, including the lauded Gospel According to Jazz series. The Grammy winner has also been honored on the Beale Street Brass Notes Walk of Fame and on the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville.

SUMMARY:Dessa
DESCRIPTION:This performance may contain adult language. \nSpanning genres and disciplines\, Minneapolis rapper Dessa’s style is defined by tenderness\, ferocity\, candor\, and wit. As a musician\, she has written music for large choirs\, crowd-surfed at rock clubs\, recorded a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra\, and contributed a track to the number-one album The Hamilton Mixtape. \nHer musical career began in earnest when she was asked to join the Minneapolis hip hop collective Doomtree\, which was known for bold production\, charismatic lyricists\, and explosive live shows. Since then\, she has released several full-length albums\, working across sounds and styles while keeping her razor-sharp writing front and center. Dessa has also written for The New York Times and National Geographic Traveler\, hosted two seasons of the BBC podcast Deeply Human\, and published several poetry books and literary collections\, including the memoir-in-essays My Own Devices.

SUMMARY:Fred Tackett and Scott Sharrard of Little Feat
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1969 by slide guitar juggernaut Lowell George\, Little Feat in its current configuration features longtime multi-instrumentalist Fred Tackett and virtuoso guitarist Scott Sharrard\, who brings fresh energy to the group’s classic sound. They are featured together in TrueFire’s Session Legends series and have been touring with the band in support of its 2025 album\, Sam’s Place. \nStepping out from the electric swamp boogie of Little Feat and hitting the road with a couple of acoustic guitars and some great songs and stories\, Tackett and Sharrard pull material from Little Feat\, their own songwriting catalogues\, and their own history\, which includes stints with Bob Dylan and the Gregg Allman Band.

SUMMARY:Corinne Bailey Rae
DESCRIPTION:Corinne Bailey Rae is an award-winning contemporary R&B singer and songwriter with a wide-ranging sound rooted in pop\, rock\, and classic soul. Her 2006 self-titled debut soared to the top of the charts\, debuting at number one in the UK and peaking at number four in the United States\, on the strength of the hit single “Put Your Records On\,” which has been streamed more than 1 billion times. The album is heralded as a catalyst for modern alternative R&B. Standing as a pivotal successor to the trailblazing work of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill\, Bailey Rae’s debut introduced an acoustic vulnerability that expanded the genre’s boundaries and established the indie-soul blueprint. \nOver the course of her 20-year career\, Bailey Rae has released four critically acclaimed studio albums and earned two Grammy Awards and two MOBO Awards. She has also been nominated for multiple BRIT Awards and the Mercury Music Prize. \nDuring this special show\, Bailey Rae will perform her quadruple-platinum self-titled debut in its entirety. \n

SUMMARY:Dengue Fever
DESCRIPTION:Formed in Los Angeles in 2001\, Dengue Fever traces its roots to organist Ethan Holtzman’s 1997 trip to Cambodia\, during which a friend contracted the mosquito-borne tropical disease that gave the band its name. That trip also introduced Holtzman to the sound of ’60s-era Cambodian rock\, which still dominated radios and jukeboxes around the country. The sound bore a strong resemblance to Nuggets-style garage rock and psychedelia\, heavy on the organ and fuzztone guitar\, and with the danceable beat of classic rock and roll. It also bore the unmistakable stamp of Bollywood film musicals and the heavily reverbed guitar lines of surf and spy soundtrack music. \nMore than two decades later\, Dengue Fever still blends several different cultures and styles into an indie-rock melting pot. Its beguiling songs are sung in the Khmer language by Chhom Nimol\, a one-time pop star in Cambodia who came from a highly successful musical family had performed several times for the Cambodian royal family before immigrating to Los Angeles.

SUMMARY:Eric Ramsey\, Hans Olson\, and Chuck Hall
DESCRIPTION:Eric Ramsey has been active in the Arizona music scene since the mid-1970s\, performing solo and in many bands. Using soaring vocals and organic arrangements\, Ramsey writes from experience about the human condition—at times sensitive\, at times humorous\, and always thought-provoking. His arrangements and delivery encompass a spectrum of styles\, from delicate fingerpicking to raucous\, bluesy bottleneck slide. \nHans Olson has been a fixture on the Arizona music scene for more than 50 years. He fronted many bands in the 1960s and ’70s but now performs as a solo act. He has released more than 17 albums and toured extensively in the United States\, Canada\, and Europe. Though he is a prolific songwriter and proficient in many styles of music\, Olson is mostly known as a blues musician. He plays an amplified acoustic guitar and a harmonica in a neck rack and is considered one of the best “harp in a rack” players in the world. \nChuck Hall has won the hearts and accolades of fans and critics throughout his electrifying blues career. His Arizona journey began in 1984\, when he joined Texas Red and the Hartbreakers. He made his name in the Valley blues scene with the legendary powerhouse trio Chuck Hall and the Brick Wall\, and he currently performs with the Chuck Hall Band. He spent a year on the road with Robert Cray and has opened for B. B. King\, Johnny Winter\, Gregg Allman\, Charlie Musselwhite\, Los Lobos\, and many more. In 2014\, PBS and the Tempe Center for the Arts highlighted Hall’s career in a televised Songwriters Showcase.
