April A. Salomon

Executive Director

Senior Management

Joining MIM in 2007 as one of the first team members, April A. Salomon played an integral role in the design, staffing, collection acquisition, and launch of the museum. Since taking the helm as executive director in May 2014, she has overseen a multimillion-dollar acquisition effort to deepen the quality of the collection and brokered lending relationships with international institutions, bringing further awareness to MIM’s global nature.

Salomon has stewarded a number of meaningful partnerships with corporations and individual philanthropists, as well as expanding MIM’s advisory board and establishing the Legacy Circle, MIM’s planned giving society. Under her leadership, MIM continues to develop key educational initiatives, including an award-winning field trip program that engages over 70,000 students annually and virtual programs created in response to the COVID pandemic that have reached over 1.4 million.

As a result of her leadership, MIM was recognized as a Phoenix Point of Pride and received the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce IMPACT Award as a Community Champion.

Salomon holds a bachelor of arts degree in art history from the University of California, Davis and a master’s in museum studies from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
