The captivating sounds of the violin, oud, and Middle Eastern percussion, along with other ethnic instruments collected during Scott Jeffers’s journeys, dominate the group’s concerts. The compositions, ranging from fiery to playful songs and tragic heart-wrenching ballads, drew inspiration from traveling: on treks across the harsh deserts of Jordan and Egypt, across the contrasting landscape of the Emerald Isle, on the sand dunes of Morocco, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, through birdsong-filled forests of Transylvania, in the rain forests of Malaysia, and around the ancient amphitheaters in Turkey. The real magic of a Traveler concert is in the connection the band makes with the audience. “Acoustic Traveler” has been a returning favorite show at the spectacular Las Noches de las Luminarias in Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden in December.
