The Hot Club of Cowtown:
An arsenal full of technique and joy.
—New York Times
Known for its legendary music collection, including the early albums of Elvis Presley, Sun Studio left an indelible mark on the history of rock ’n’ roll. In 2005, Tyler Hilton was cast to play Elvis in the blockbuster Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line. Now, Hilton has teamed up with the Hot Club of Cowtown, America’s premier hot jazz and Western swing trio, to bring Elvis’s greatest Sun Studio hits to life onstage.
The Hot Club of Cowtown might be the world’s most globe-trotting, most effervescent string trio. Its joyful sound blends the traditional Western swing of the 1940s with European hot jazz influences from the same era. The trio, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, writes original songs and reinterprets hoedowns, American songbook standards, and more in its signature style. The band is guitarist Whit Smith, fiddler Elana James, and upright bassist Zack Sapunor.
