SUMMARY:Vieux Farka Touré
DESCRIPTION:Often called “the Hendrix of the Sahara\,” Vieux Farka Touré was born in Niafunké\, Mali\, in 1981. He is the son of legendary Malian guitar player Ali Farka Touré\, who died in 2006. \nTouré was initially a drummer and calabash player at Mali’s Institut National des Arts de Bamako\, but he secretly began playing guitar in 2001. He is known for dazzling crowds with his speed and dexterity on the guitar and for his palpable charisma and luminous smile—both of which captivate audiences despite any language barriers. (Though he does speak eight languages.) With each new project\, Touré broadens his horizons\, embraces new challenges\, and further entrenches his reputation as one of the world’s most talented and innovative musicians.

SUMMARY:Ariel Posen
DESCRIPTION:For Ariel Posen\, songwriting and guitar playing have always gone hand in hand. He has spent more than a decade building a bridge between those two worlds\, balancing his work as a hotshot instrumentalist with solo albums rooted in melody and autobiographical storytelling. With a powerful voice that matches his fretwork\, Posen explores uncharted territory\, blurring the lines between genres and generations. \nPosen has earned acclaim for his virtuosic musicianship since he joined Canadian roots-rock band the Bros. Landreth in 2013\, receiving ovations not only from his audiences but also from outlets such as Rolling Stone. In 2023\, he performed at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival\, and in 2025 he was honored by Fender with a limited-edition signature model Stratocaster. \nPosen’s 2026 release\, Bannatyne\, weaves larger-than-life riffs and upbeat tempos with the syncopated grooves and the unexpected textures that have always steered his work. This is Posen’s unique vision of electrified roots music: song-driven\, fretwork-fueled\, and unmistakably his own.

SUMMARY:The Bad Plus
DESCRIPTION:After 26 years together\, the Bad Plus—known for its fiercely original\, genre-defying approach and democratic spirit—has announced that 2026 will be its final year. The decision comes after deep reflection and with great pride in a body of work that reshaped expectations of what a modern jazz group could be. \nFor the past two decades\, the Bad Plus has played with spirit and adventure\, made its own rules\, and done so with a bold sense of creativity and intent. Avoiding easy categorization\, the group—founded by bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King and currently featuring guitarist Ben Moder and tenor saxophonist Chris Speed—has won critical acclaim and a legion of fans worldwide with its unique sound and live flair.
