SUMMARY:Bettye LaVette
DESCRIPTION:As one of the finest vocalists and greatest song interpreters in the United States\, Bettye LaVette can take any type of song and make it her own. Though her discography spans more than six decades\, it was only in the 21st century that LaVette started to gain widespread recognition\, earning seven Grammy nominations between 2007 and 2023. She is one of the few in her cohort who began recording during the birth of soul music in the 1960s and is still creating vital recordings today. \n

SUMMARY:Haley Reinhart
DESCRIPTION:Haley Reinhart has one of those timeless voices that outlasts eras—one that would have felt as at home in the 1960s as it does in the TikTok age. The platinum-selling singer and songwriter is heavily influenced by classic pop and soul acts—including the Beatles\, Janis Joplin\, Ella Fitzgerald\, and Sly and the Family Stone—and she exudes an empowering level of charisma and confidence. \nA sought-after talent\, Reinhart regularly collaborates with Postmodern Jukebox and Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. She also duetted with actor and musician Jeff Goldblum on two tracks on his chart-topping jazz standards collection\, The Capitol Studios Sessions.

Today\, she is one of the most iconic sitārists in India\, a distinguished performer hailing from the Rampur Senia Gharana\, a lineage of Indian classical music tracing back to the 16th-century musician Mian Tānsen. SUMMARY:Micky Dolenz of the Monkees
DESCRIPTION:Micky Dolenz has distinguished himself as an actor\, director\, musician\, and radio personality\, but he will always be best known as the drummer and vocalist of 1960s pop-rock heroes the Monkees. Their first four albums hit number one on the charts and launched three number-one singles—including “Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer\,” both sung by Dolenz. Over the course of a seven-decade career\, Dolenz has proven himself to be a reliably charming entertainer as well as a skillful vocalist whose tenor brought the Monkees’ biggest hits to life.

SUMMARY:Cowboy Junkies
DESCRIPTION:In 1988\, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet\, beautiful\, and reflective. The Trinity Session stood out amid the flash and bombast that came to define the late 1980s. The classic album combined folk\, blues\, and rock in a way that had never been heard before\, and it went on to sell more than 1 million copies. \nFormed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar\, Margo Timmins on vocals\, Peter Timmins on drums\, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass\, Cowboy Junkies have sparkled over the course of 29 albums. SUMMARY:John Pizzarelli
DESCRIPTION:For world-renowned guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli\, Tony Bennett was more than an influence. Pizzarelli’s late father\, the revered guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli\, was a frequent sideman for the legendary singer\, and Pizzarelli got his own opportunity to accompany Bennett on a radio broadcast. \nDear Mr. Bennett\, released in March via Green Hill Music\, is on the one hand a loving farewell to a profoundly influential musician. At the same time\, it is a spirited celebration\, arriving just in time for Bennett’s landmark August 3 centennial. A five-song EP will follow on August 7 to coincide with the occasion. Both releases feature songs made famous by Bennett over the course of his remarkable seven-decade career\, rendered with lively warmth\, soulful balladry\, and embracing swing by Pizzarelli and his trio\, which features bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson. \nPizzarelli’s trio has established a brilliant chemistry over the past six years. Dear Mr. Bennett finds them in dazzling form\, equally adept at scintillating jazz\, breathtaking beauty\, and radiant pop.
