Los Camperos are one of the finest examples of this proud Mexican musical tradition that grew out of a regional Jalisco style some 75 years ago to become the national music of Mexico.

Grammy-winning ensemble Mariachi Los Camperos is among the most important performers in the modern mariachi tradition. The group was founded in 1961 by Jose Natividad “Nati” Cano Ruiz. Cano played a fundamental role in the development of mariachi music in the United States. He presented Los Camperos at multiple theaters, opera houses, concert halls, and casinos where mariachis had never previously performed, including Carnegie Hall in New York and Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC.
Over its 59 years of history, Mariachi Los Camperos have recorded and performed with many artists, including Pedro Fernandez, Pepe Aguilar, Angeles Ochoa, Eugenia Leon, Lila Downs, Alejandro Fernandez, Luis Miguel, and many more. They were among the bands that collaborated on Linda Ronstadt’s Canciones de Mi Padre. They also toured with her nationwide in support of the follow-up album, Mas Canciones. Jesus “Chuy” Guzman has served as the musical director since 1992.
