Khani Cole’s Sonic Table is a celebration of three decades of the Khani Cole songbook presented in interesting and eclectic combinations of musicians and instrumentation. This newest incarnation of the Sonic Table―String Edition features Stanley Serrano (Annette Merano, Tercer Cielo), guitars; Adam Armijo (Jeff Lorber, Israel Houghton), guitars; Michael Levin (Cirque du Soleil), cello; Alex Kyhn, bass; and Mike Florio, drums.
This January’s appearance marks Cole’s eighth as a headliner at the MIM Music Theater, her third with her Sonic Table ensembles.
Cole’s ascent into national and international consciousness began after relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, from her native Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1992. The move sparked the inception of her first solo release, Piece of My Soul, in 1996 on Fahrenheit Records. Her follow-up release, Places, featured the “Top 30” new adult contemporary (NAC) radio single, “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.”
Cole toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad, including some of the most prestigious venues and festivals, all while maintaining her brand in the Greater Phoenix area. With an eye on her European exposure, Expansion Records (Sony/3MV) released her Lifetime album, which quickly ascended the European radio charts. Her most recent release is a compilation of all three releases entitled A Collection. She has performed or shared billing with many prestigious musical figures, such as George Benson, Grover Washington Jr., and Joe Sample, among others.
