The Blind Boys of Alabama have the rare distinction of being recognized around the world as both living legends and modern-day innovators. They are not just Grammy-winning gospel singers borrowing from old traditions; the group helped define those traditions in 20^th century and almost single-handedly created a new gospel sound for the 21^st century. Since the original members (including Jimmy Carter, who leads the group today) first sang together as kids at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in the late 1930s, the band has persevered through seven decades to become one of the most recognized and decorated roots music groups in the world.

Charlie Musselwhite is living proof that great music only gets better with age. The blues harmonica player and bandleader cut his musical teeth alongside Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, and others on the South Side of Chicago in the early 1960s. More than 50 years of nonstop performing and 20 albums later, Musselwhite is at the top of his game, a revered elder statesman of the blues telling the truth with a voice and harp tone like no other, his depth of expression as a singer and an instrumentalist unmatched and only growing deeper.
