The Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona, serves to create opportunities for all Arizonans to participate in and experience the arts. MIM has worked in partnership with the Arts Commission since the museum first opened in 2010 and is grateful for the organization’s generous contributions.

The Arts Commission provides grants funded by the State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts to cultivate sustainable arts communities; increase public access to arts and cultural activities throughout the state; and act as a knowledge base for Arizona artists, arts organizations, and educators.

As establishing partnerships is critical to its efforts, the Arts Commission engages in a multitude of partnerships every year. Creating strategic collaborations that demonstrate the omnipresence of the arts and its significant impact is central to the organization’s mission.

Recent cuts in government funding for the arts have become severe, and many sources of funding—especially government agencies and private foundations—for general operating budgets have begun to erode at a time when arts organizations are confronted with constantly increasing operating costs. MIM warmly thanks the Arts Commission for its ongoing and generous support, which has enabled the museum to continue presenting innovative and engaging exhibitions and programming to create a lasting and impactful legacy.
