MIM Honored in Three Categories at the 33rd Annual Telly Awards

Museum’s Sizzle Reel Wins Bronze Tellys in Three Internet Video Categories

PHOENIX (May 7, 2012) The Telly Awards has selected the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) as a Bronze winner for its Sizzle Reel video in three categories at the 33rd Annual Telly Awards. With nearly 11,000 entries from numerous countries and all 50 states, the Telly Awards honors the very best in film and video.

MIM’s Sizzle Reel video is a three-minute musical journey exploring “the most extraordinary museum you’ll ever hear.®” Viewers learn about the museum’s mission, galleries, and the MIM Music Theater. MIM self-produced the video in collaboration with local photographers, actors, and extras to capture the MIM experience, inspiring people from around the world to make the trip to Phoenix to visit the museum.

The Sizzle Reel video was honored in three categories:

  • Internet/Online Commercial — Institutional/Corporate Image
  • Internet/Online Programs, Segments, or Promotional Pieces — Education
  • Internet/Online Programs, Segments, or Promotional Pieces — Travel/Tourism

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honors the film and video industry with awards for outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, videos, and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

This year the Telly Awards once again joined forces with YouTube to give the public the power to view and rate videos submitted as part of the People’s Telly Awards. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council (the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners), the Internet community helps decide the People’s Telly Awards winners. A prestigious judging panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence represented by Telly. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Entries do not compete against each other, but are judged against a high standard of merit.
