PHOENIX (July 12, 2011) On Saturday, August 27, the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is hosting Educators’ Preview Day, a golden opportunity for school teachers, principals, and homeschool educators who have not yet visited the museum to experience the educational value of a field trip to MIM. The open-house event also provides a forum to share improvements and exciting additions to MIM’s school-tour program for the coming school year.
Educators’ Preview Day starts at 9:00 a.m. with refreshments and entertainment in the MIM Music Theater. The event includes a special presentation by MIM Education Team members and guest speakers, offering opportunities to ask questions, receive materials to take away, and then tour the MIM galleries to get a firsthand view of the extraordinary exhibits that can engage students of all ages. Attendees will also be able to enter a drawing to win fun prizes. Approximately 284 spaces are available and participants must RSVP in advance to hold their spot.
The Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix has proven to be a valuable cultural and educational resource for the greater Phoenix community. With music education budgets on the decline, MIM has been able to play a vital role in providing students with the benefits of a systematic introduction to musical culture. A trip to MIM also imparts a valuable learning experience in physics and social studies.
“We’re offering teachers and principals an Educators’ Preview Day at MIM because there’s no better way to realize what a wonderful experience their students will have on a field trip to MIM,” commented MIM education manager Sarah Weber. “Teachers and students are a significant audience at MIM. So we’re excited to be able to offer this amazing opportunity.”
