Celebrate July 4th at MIM!

If you’re looking for a place to keep the kids—and the adults—happy, relaxed, and entertained on July 4th, head for MIM.

Learn about the origin of marching bands and popular patriotic songs played during most Fourth of July celebrations at the All-American Bands exhibit in MIM’s United States / Canada Gallery. Drop by for lunch at Café Allegro, where you can have a choice of hot dogs, burgers, grilled chicken barbecue, or tilapia po’boy that will surely satisfy the whole family.

MIM will be open 9:00 a.m.‒5:00 p.m.

Now Recruiting Museum Guides and Other MIM Volunteer Team Members

Are you interested in learning about musical instruments and cultures from around the world while making new friends?

MIM is recruiting friendly and energetic volunteer team members to become museum guides. You don’t need a musical background, just an active interest in music, learning, and teaching. Training, which covers everything a museum guide needs to know, begins on September 3 and takes place every Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., until November 5. Applications are due by August 1; interviews are required.

Museum guides give educational tours to schoolchildren and adults, highlighting various countries and musical cultures in MIM’s five major Geographical Galleries. Other volunteer jobs available are as gallery guides, Guest Service assistants, Museum Store associates, MIM Music Theater ushers, community ambassadors, and Spanish translators. For more information, click here or contact MIM’s Guest Experience Manager at 480.245.6957 or volunteer@MIM.org.

Concert Alert!

Don’t miss three new concerts just added to the MIM Music Theater summer concert series.

Arizona musicians will take center stage on Monday, August 12, with I Am AZ Music: Arizona Singer-Songwriters in the Round II and Tuesday, August 13, with I Am AZ Music: Arizona Acoustic Blues. On Friday, August 16, Hawaiian singer-songwriter Makana will show off his slack-key guitar virtuosity in combining rock, folk, bluegrass, and blues. Tickets will go on sale to Circle of Friends donors at noon on Tuesday, June 25, and to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27.
