The World’s Only Global Musical Instrument Museum ®

We believe that educators are both leaders in their communities and vital educational partners of the museum. In that spirit, MIM is pleased to announce our Educator Appreciation Month in July. During the entire month of July, preschool through 12th-grade educators, school and district administrators, principals, registered student teachers, and homeschool educators will receive free museum admission upon presentation of a school ID, fingerprint clearance card, or affidavit of intent.

Preregister to visit MIM on Saturday, July 29, for Teachers’ Preview Day. Attendees will learn about MIM’s offerings for preschool- through 12th-grade groups! From 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., enjoy a live musical performance highlighting MIM’s Artist Residency program and learn about school-tour options and MIM’s educator resources (including pre- and post-visit curricula and 2017–2018 professional development sessions). Find out about grant opportunities and connect with colleagues over light refreshments. MIM’s education team will share ideas and resources for bringing exhibit content into the classroom and how field trips connect to state standards in English language arts, music education, physical education, science, and social studies. Receive a letter to submit for professional development hours with your district. After the formal program and prize drawings, attendees are invited to explore the museum.

Why doesn’t Educator Appreciation Month include higher-education college professors and substitute or retired teachers?

Educator Appreciation Month and the educational materials associated with it are designed to give current educators, specifically in the preschool- through 12th-grade levels, a chance to preview MIM and plan their upcoming class visit to the museum

Why doesn’t Educator Appreciation Month include piano teachers or other types of private music teachers?

Educator Appreciation Month focuses on preschool- through 12th-grade classroom educators so they can learn about MIM and how they can use the museum as a resource for arts education in their classroom.

Can my child, spouse, or other family members accompany me on my visit to MIM during Educator Appreciation Month?

Yes, MIM welcomes guests of all ages! General admission to the museum is $20 for adults (ages 20+), $15 for teens (ages 13–19), $10 for children (ages 4–12), and free for children ages 3 and under. Each ticket is identical to a complimentary pass granted during Educator Appreciation Month, allowing guests to access the same museum features. Educators registered for Preview Day on July 29 will be able to rejoin their party after attending their scheduled activities.
