Jim Pupillo has been involved in the investment-management advisory business for twenty-seven years. He is a partner and managing director at HighTower Advisors, a Scottsdale-based investment consulting firm.

Pupillo graduated with a bachelor of science degree in management administration and marketing from Indiana University in Bloomington. In 1987, he began his career with E. F. Hutton’s Consulting Group, which today is Morgan Stanley Graystone Consulting.

In 1997, Pupillo earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation and his Investment Strategist Certification, both conferred by the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA). He has also been certified by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, the UCLA Anderson School of Management [as a Certified 401(k) Professional], the ASU American Indian Policy Institute (for Tribal Financial Management), and 3ethos and Thunderbird School of Global Management (as a Global Fiduciary Strategist).

As a leader in the financial industry, he has served as president of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC) and the Institute for Certified Management Consultants (ICMC). He has also published articles and contributed to several books on the subject of investment strategies and has won multiple awards within the industry. From 2006 to 2011, Pupillo was identified as one of America’s Top 100 financial advisors and was ranked number one in Arizona in 2009 by Barron’s magazine.

Aside from serving on the advisory board of the Musical Instrument Museum, Pupillo is a board member of the Yavapai Indian Foundation, a committee member of the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) Government Affairs Committee, and a board director of the Help in Healing Home at the Village at Mayo Clinic.
